With the enthusiasm, encouragement and financial backing of Arts Council England, we have been able to create Venture South and help ideas become projects. We are immensely grateful for their partnership and support.
Our Member of Parliament, Bob Seely has been an energetic catalyst in starting this initiative and continues to support and inspire our progress. Whilst Venture South is political agnostic we share Bob’s commitment to do what is right for the Island and very encouraged by his strident belief that the arts and creative sectors play a major part in positive transformation on the Isle of Wight.
IW Council have supported our purpose from the beginning and understands the place and job making potential of the creative sector – now the fastest growing employer in the UK. As they fight to make the most of their budget, we are working together to see how we can broker relationships with organisations and businesses who recognise the opportunities and lighten the load.
Creative England are helping us promote the Isle of Wight as a space to create to producers and location finders in the film and TV industry. They will, for the first time, feature us as Filmwight on their new website for Filming in England. They will also be visiting the Island to refresh their understanding of our locations, talent and facilities so they can represent us well alongside more established film offices in other regions.
Solent LEP match funding good ideas with implementable, sustainable operating models. They are pragmatic partners and an immensely important source of funding for projects and businesses that choose to venture south.
